Reflection.

We have exchanged our planning essay with other groups. The group that we were assigned to exchange with was with Kai Song's group. This consisted of 2 multimedia and a 54 page long supporting essay.

Kai Song's group gave us some advice. They told us to check our grammar, add screenshots of the comments of our survey, put in the names of the people we interviewed on, to elaborate more on why we chose to use cross-collaboration and to add evidence of our meetings.

By doing so, we have fixed our work by adding the screenshots of the Facebook, Skype meetings, the evidence of the cross collaboration on a map, add in the names of the people we have asked and proofread continuously.

27th January 2012.

Today:
  • Maxwell continues to fix the Project Plan with Stephanie's and Adam's help. We also looked at the feedbacks the other groups did for us so we can get a higher mark.
  • Stephanie checks the responses of the survey.
  • Adam researched.
Overall, it was a very very productive day filled with laughter and joy. Our stress level have officially dropped dramatically :D

21st January 2012.

Through the week, this is what we have done
  • I have showed the survey that I was going to send out to schools (local/global/national) to Ms.Gita to check if it was alright. She also checked with Ms.Suzy to see if we needed permission for this, so that was helpful for the confirmation of sending out surveys.
  • Adam sent out the e-mail to his teacher in his old school after Maxwell checked and fixed some grammars (since he is the complete finisher)
  • Maxwell just continues to fix our Project Plan.

14th January 2012

Well, for the past week, my group have been progressing very well and I am very pleased with this.

  • We have finished our gantt chart and know exactly when to finish each work.
  • I have done brief questions for survey to pass on to local/national/global schools to answer. I will continue this and try to post the survey up by next week.
  • Maxwell have progressively done good work on our Project Plan essay.
  • Adam have been writing a brief e-mail to his teacher in his old school to help us in the cross-collaboration.
So far, I am pleased. :D

8th January 2012

For the past week, my group has been progressing very cooperatively. Even though we have not talked much during the holidays (not to mention the week in school only consisted of 3 days) it was one, or the best progress we have done so far.

In the 2 meetings that we met in class consist of all of us trying to sort our project out. For the past one term, my group have obviously been pressured with the fact that the other 2 groups were progressing much more faster than us. Which lead to us arguing more frequently with the lack of progress. Therefore, I believe that was one of the problems why we couldn't function properly.

In the end, this is what we have arranged:
1. Adam is responsible for Global Perspective, Maxwell is responsible for National and Stephanie is in charge for The Future. We all would do the Personal Perspective afterwards when we are done with the research on our individual task OR one individual that finish earlier, will do the personal perspective.
2. Every Friday at the end of the week, we will reflect on our progress.
3. Maxwell and Adam will need to find a school by Friday. (Adam - Global) (Maxwell - National)
  • what do you feel about canning?
  • do you have any form of corporal punishment in your school?
  • if yes, at what point do you determine it is right to cane a student?
  • if no, what is your thought of canning?
  • If you go to an international school, what is the corporal punishment view in your home country?
4. 8th of January we will finish our Plan, Aim & Objective planning.
5. History of Corporal Punishment finish on the 7th of January - Stephanie
6. We all finish our research by 13th of January.
7. Adam & Maxwell will create a draft of the email to the schools by 10th January.
8. FIX MEETING ON THURSDAY 8.30 - EVERY WEEK.
9. WEDNESDAY FIX MEETING AT LUNCH - EVERY WEEK.

After our first meeting, we went on skype and discussed about the schools that we were going to interview. We then chose New Zealand and Malaysia since they both have different views of corporal punishment, which was an excellent deal. This was because, Malaysia, we could ask Maxwell's old school whilst we can ask Adam's old school in NZ.

In our following meeting, we were discussing and creating our Plan, Aims and Objective. Gladly to say, we have already set our Aims and Objectives. Our Plan still needs working.

29th November 2011

In this lesson, Mr.James came to us and the four of us agreed that we will change our focus from the domestic violence inside the house to the child abuse violence in school. This is because, we have noticed that by having the focus for the domestic violence inside the house, there will not be enough information about it. It is also a personal matter towards the teenagers and including the parents. By having a more public approach, it is easier for us to find the information and there are more issues about this in school.

We still agree that we want to focus this subject locally. This is because, we can find our information more easily and Malaysia has a lot of problems in government schools with canning, etc. We can find an international approach by comparing a local school and an international within Malaysia. We also agreed that we can ask foreign international schools to find out their opinions of this and if they can give advice.

We have stopped talking about our outcome. This is because, Maxwell has said that, if we continue progressing on our project, we might change our outcome as it goes. So we all decided to leave that behind and just do our project.

Our outcome audience is still focusing on the teenagers. Maxwell will write down his homework on his blog on the pro's and con's.

We communicated appropriately except the fact that, as usual, Maxwell and Adam likes to go out of topic if we're not actually talking about it. Including the fact when we were writing down on our reflection, it took a lot of convincing to do.

Throughout the whole meeting, I gave questions to ask them and see if they are able to answer them. As they answer, they have very reliable answers and we can actually be on track. Just the fact that we, or perhaps, they, like to get off track, the procrastination is there.

What we can continue to work on effectively is to actually get the work done, create a Gantt Chart and make a deadline for each task.

26th November 2011

In this meeting, we met up on Skype. We didn't get to talk so much due to the fact everyone was quite busy or were about to be busy so we gave each other homework to do.

But in the lesson, we have agreed to the following;

  1. Everyone of us agreed that the best choice for our campaign is engaging teenage audiences. We are trying to discuss on where we can find solid proof for this.
  2. We then discussed as a group on the type of media that we should use.

So afterwards, these were the homework that we set for each other;

  1. Maxwell will find a solid proof why engaging teenage audiences are the best audience for our campaign. Maxwell will also find out which multimedia fits best with our audience with solid reasonings.
  2. Adam and I will plan the Gantt Chart whilst Maxwell figures that out so we don’t waste time.
  3. Adam will find the definition for Child Abuse - Domestic Violence with Bibliography.
  4. PRESENT ALL OF THIS BY TUESDAY - INCLUDING THE HOMEWORK YOU HAVE NOT DONE!!!
We will discuss all our homework LATEST BY TUESDAY so we can finally get going with our project.
